Betsey Johnson Is Celebrating Her 84th Birthday with a New Collection Designed with Paris Hilton

Just yesterday, fashion designer Betsey Johnson celebrated her 84th birthday, an occasion that’s welcoming a new era for her brand too.

On Aug. 11, the Betsey Johnson label, created in 1978, announced a campaign and collection with Paris Hilton that’s inspired by the brand’s archives and runway shows. Speaking with PEOPLE exclusively about the launch, Hilton, 45, says working with Johnson at this level was “incredible.”

“She is just as fun, original and full of personality as her clothes, and she brings so much creativity into everything she does.” It’s Johnson’s fearlessness and “strong point of view” that drew Hilton to her universe in the first place.

Hilton started attending Betsey Johnson shows in the 2000s with her younger sister, Nicky, and “they always felt like such a party.”

“It was never just about the clothes. It was the music, the personality, the drama and the feeling that everyone was there to have fun and be themselves,” she recalls.

Some things never change, even nearly 30 years later.

Being on set to shoot the campaign was a ball, recalls Hilton. “We had the best time brainstorming together, playing with looks at fittings, and making TikToks on set. She has this magnetic energy that lights up the room, and getting to create something with her has been such a dream.”

The collaboration involved Hilton marrying Johnson’s eclectic and unapologetically out-there aesthetic with the styles she gravitates towards most. “I’ve always loved fashion that feels glamorous, expressive and a little unexpected,” says Hilton. “For this collection, I wanted to celebrate everything people love about her: the pink, the tulle, the bows, the sparkle, the drama and that fearless sense of fun, while also bringing my own Paris touch to it.”

The collection — teased with bridal looks, slip dresses and confections — was built for the woman who wants her “outfit to make a statement before she even says a word.”

“Every piece has that bold Betsey energy, with the glamour and confidence that I love. It’s perfect for a night out, a party, a birthday, a girls’ trip or really any moment where you want to make an entrance and feel like the most fabulous version of yourself.”

For decades, Hilton has been inspired by Johnson’s designs, having worn them everywhere, from the red carpet to Coachella and her stage behind the DJ booth; her favorite look, she tells PEOPLE, is the black lace dress she wore back in 2008 to the MTV Movie Awards. But, “I’ve looked up to her for so long, not just as a designer, but as someone who has always created her own lane and stayed true to herself,” Hilton says. “Hearing Betsey say that I inspire her was the ultimate compliment.”

It may seem like a partnership is the pinnacle for Hilton and Johnson, but The Simple Life alum promises that their story isn’t over yet.

“I hope there is more to come. Working with Betsey has been so much fun and bringing our worlds together felt so natural. We both love fashion that is glamorous, bold and full of personality, so I would love to keep creating together. For now, I am just excited for everyone to see this collection and have as much fun wearing it as we had making it.”

Why Paris Hilton Believes Living with ADHD Gives Her a ‘Creative Sparkle’

[ Written on August 29 2026 by karina ]

Depending on the day, Paris Hilton may take on the role of socialite, model, singer, actress, media personality, or businesswoman. But every day, she advocates for those living with ADHD because she personally knows the challenges they face.

As a child, Hilton felt deeply misunderstood.

“[It] was really difficult, especially in school, because I felt that no matter how hard I would try or study, school was always so difficult for me; just being able to focus,” she told Healthine. “I just felt like I was constantly getting punished in school, just because of the way my brain worked, and it was really hard to have these labels that weren’t true…People would just assume I wasn’t trying hard because of not being able to…keep up with everyone in the class.”

When Hilton was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, she said it brought her comfort.

“It was a huge relief. I just felt no one understood the way I felt, and then I [got to] know so much about ADHD,” she said. “It made me feel so much less alone, and so many things started making sense. Like growing up, and the way I felt, and the way I was in life, knowing everything about it, it just all clicked for me.”

How Paris Hilton found an ADHD treatment that works for her
Morning routines were always the most difficult for Hilton to manage until she started taking JORNAY PM, a central nervous system stimulant prescription medicine.

“It’s a medication that I take at night, and it starts working 10 hours after I take it, so when I wake up in the morning, I’m ready to start my day, and really put things in place and be more organized,” Hilton said. “[It’s] extremely helpful in my life.”

She says the treatment helps her with parenting.

“Being a mom and entrepreneur, balancing all of it is definitely a lot, but now I feel like I’ve been able to really put these systems and tools in place where I’m able to be so present because I have everything really organized,” said Hilton.

She teamed up with Collegium Pharmaceutical, the manufacturer of the medication, to share her story.

“I feel like this is the first time in my life where I really have my symptoms managed, and I feel like before, the treatment was not working, but now with JORNAY PM, it’s just had such a meaningful difference in my life… I feel really happy,” she said.

Justin A. Barterian, PhD, psychologist and associate professor at The Ohio State University – Wexner Medical Center, said stimulant medications are effective treatments for ADHD and help improve attention and reduce hyperactivity/impulsivity.

“Often people find themselves performing much better in school or work when their symptoms are adequately being treated with a stimulant,” he told Healthline.

Barterian said stimulants have progressed from immediate release to extended release, meaning that the medication is released into the bloodstream throughout the day.

“This has allowed for more consistent symptom management throughout the day,” he said.

Stimulant medications are one of the most effective treatments for ADHD. However, Barterian said that cognitive behavioral therapy and executive functioning skills training can also lead to improvements.

“While stimulant medications increase the capacity for attention, executive functioning skills work can help the patient learn evidence-based strategies for organization, planning, and time management,” he said. “Therapy can also address issues that often co-occur with ADHD, such as anxiety and depression.”

How Paris Hilton is challenging the stigma around ADHD
Hilton takes pride in talking about ADHD.

“ADHD definitely comes with the challenges of stigma and self-doubt,” she said. “I really want to spread the message that it’s what gives me my creative sparkle, and it’s really influenced the way that I think and innovate with business, and [how I] make music, and the way I see the world.”

She wants others living with ADHD who feel misunderstood and unsupported to feel her support.

“And also, be inspired [and know] that moms and people with ADHD can be successful, and they are some of the most brilliant minds in the world,” said Hilton. “I really want people to embrace that rather than feel like something’s wrong with them.”

Barterian said a common misunderstanding related to those with ADHD is that they are lazy.

“It is a disorder that impacts motivation and leads to significant impairment,” he said. “With proper treatment, the impairment associated with ADHD can be substantially reduced.”

Hilton works to spread this message, noting that as a kid, she didn’t have anyone to look up to who was talking about ADHD.

“So to be able to be that for others just makes me feel really good inside,” Hilton said.

Her advice to others who are living and struggling with ADHD symptoms is to be patient with yourself and know that you are not broken.

“There’s nothing wrong with you, [it’s] just the way that your brain works. [Don’t] be so hard on yourself,” she said. “[Also] connect with others in the ADHD community, and there’s so much information out there now.”

For so long, she felt that only negative aspects of ADHD were discussed, but she said there’s so much more to living with the condition.

“[I] hope that by me talking about it, it can inspire others to embrace their inner sparkle, and see that it’s what gives them creativity…and [someone] who takes risks,” said Hilton. “[That’s] why I’ve always been such an innovator in so many different areas of life and business.”

She credits her ADHD with helping her become a successful entrepreneur.

“[That’s] a really important message for people to know, as well, that they can do whatever they want in life, and that their dreams could come true.”

Paris Hilton: The 100 Most Influential People in AI 2026

[ Written on August 29 2026 by karina ]

In the two-plus decades since her ex-boyfriend nonconsensually published an intimate video of her, Paris Hilton has channeled frustration over her lack of legal recourse into staunch political activism. In recent years, Hilton has turned to lobbying lawmakers on Capitol Hill to pass federal legislation—like the bipartisan DEFIANCE Act—that allows victims of nonconsensual digital and AI-made explicit media to sue perpetrators directly.

Hilton’s advocacy efforts focus on ensuring legal protections keep pace with the rapid advancement of AI technology. In May, she partnered with journalist Laurie Segall to premiere Searching for Mr. Deepfakes, a 14-part TikTok docuseries chronicling Segall’s years-long investigation into the anonymous operator behind one of the internet’s most notorious nonconsensual AI-generated pornography sites. “This could happen to literally anyone, and has already affected millions of people,” Hilton tells TIME. “Turning my pain into purpose and using my platform to help make a difference has been the most meaningful work of my life.”

NYX Professional Makeup announced the return of “If You NYX, You Know” (IYNYK) Volume 2. The next chapter of the global beauty brand’s annual campaign celebrates everything the brand’s “in-the-know” community already gets.

Volume 2 highlights NYX’s array of lip products and glosses, bringing to life its Fat Oil Lip Drip and Butter Gloss, alongside newer products including Lip Lingerie and Jelly Job.

Following the viral success of IYNYK Volume 1, which debuted last summer, NYX welcomes back Paris Hilton and introduces a new roster of certified international “baddies.”

New faces include pop artist Normani Kordei, social media sensations Gabriela Moura and Yusur Al-Khalidi, and Love Island UK star Toni Laites.

Denee Pearson, Global Brand President, said:

“If you NYX, you know that we’ve been the brand on everyone’s lips year after year… We wanted to create a campaign that celebrates our global community of baddies who have always understood that great makeup doesn’t require a high price tag. This campaign is our love letter to the baddies who have been in on the secret all along – and who doesn’t love a lip combo?!”

Told through a series of cheeky, scroll-stopping videos, IYNYK Volume 2 celebrates the fans who have been in on the secret all along, while inviting new ones to get in on it too.

This time around, audiences are invited into the vibrant, high-shine world of the NYX Professional Makeup Diner – a playful, Y2K-inspired beauty universe where iconic lip combos are always on the menu.

Inside the bright pink diner, open 24/7 for every baddie, a fully blinged-out Paris Hilton is the “Gloss Boss” behind the counter, giving fans an insider’s look at the brand’s “worst-kept secret” while serving each It-girl her signature lip combo.

Paris Hilton, CEO of 11:11 Media, said:

“Anyone who knows me knows I love lip gloss. It’s the finishing touch to every iconic look. I’m so excited to reunite with NYX Professional Makeup for this next chapter and serve even more glossy, glamorous moments. Beauty has always been one of my favorite ways to express myself, and this campaign is all about confidence, having fun, and never passing a mirror without looking in it.”

Rolling out globally beginning July 15, the campaign comes to life across digital, billboards, and retail activations.

20 Questions with Paris Hilton

[ Written on June 29 2026 by karina ]

Paris Hilton needs no introduction. She’s the OG influencer who used her hilarious reality series, The Simple Life, co-starring Nicole Richie, to build a global business empire. Since she first became famous in the Y2K era, when “that’s hot!” was her snappy catchphrase, Hilton has branched out into DJing, acting and all manner of personal branding: last year, she released her 30th fragrance, called Iconic (what else?).

More recently, she used the 2020 documentary This is Paris and her 2023 autobiography, Paris: The Memoir, to reveal the woman behind the social media persona. Hilton has spoken with unswerving candour about the emotional, physical and sexual abuse she experienced at various boarding schools that purported to help troubled teenagers. Now, she leverages her celebrity to campaign for greater regulation and transparency in such facilities. In December 2024, the US House of Representatives passed the Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act, due in no small part to Hilton’s moving testimony before Congress.

Of course, she’s also the pop star behind balmy reggae bop Stars Are Blind – quite frankly, the song of the summer every year – and the high-camp club bangers of her 2024 album, Infinite Icon. All in all, she’s a natural fit for the Sunday Icon slot at Brighton Pride, where she’ll take to the stage for a rare UK performance.

Hilton is living proof that smart blondes don’t just have fun; they also have careers we love talking about. So, she jumped on Zoom from her LA home to answer 20 questions covering her remarkable journey so far.

1. Hi Paris! What can we expect from your Brighton Pride set in August?
I’ve been working with my choreographer and all my amazing dancers to make it a beautiful production that really sparkles. I’m going to be singing all my favourite songs from my albums, plus a few surprises …

2. You’re playing Brighton Pride as the Sunday Icon. What, for you, makes someone an icon?
Never being afraid to stand out. I think the people who leave a lasting mark are the ones who create their own path and stay true to who they are. They don’t chase trends, they set them.

3. Can you remember the first time you were called an icon?
People have been calling me iconic for a very long time, so it’s hard to remember exactly when I first heard it. But I do know that my team did a study on what people call me the most, and it’s officially “icon” and “iconic”. It’s something I live every day; I think it just comes naturally.

4. What does Pride mean to you?
It’s about celebrating a community that’s shown me so much love and acceptance, especially during a time in my life when I needed it the most. As a teenager in New York, I found such a sense of belonging in the club scene, where I became friends with David LaChapelle, Amanda Lepore and Patricia Field. I loved being surrounded by so many vogue dancers, drag queens and creative people.

5. Why do you think you’ve been so embraced by the LGBTQ+ community?
So many people come up to me and say, “Just watching The Simple Life helped me to become who I am today.” I believe in being authentic and never letting anyone dim your sparkle, and I really try to bring that message into everything I do.

6. What are your fondest memories of the UK?
I’m obsessed with London – I had my 21st birthday there. Being a mom now, I love bringing my kids to Hamley’s. On every trip, we’re literally there for seven hours visiting every floor.

7. You’ve collaborated with some incredible artists: Kim Petras, Megan Thee Stallion, Rina Sawayama. Who’s top of your collaboration wish list now?
Madonna. She inspires so much of what I do musically, and I also love her advocacy work.

8. If any Paris Hilton song could pop off on TikTok, which one would you like it to be?
Stars Are Blind. It’s amazing to see new generations discover that song.

9. What is the most surprising place in the world you’ve heard it?
Like, anytime I would walk into a party or a club, the DJ would put it on. And if I’m expecting to have a low-key night, that definitely does not happen when Stars Are Blind comes on.

10. Do you always say yes when someone asks for a selfie?
I’ve never said no, because I love making people happy. I think that with fame, your biggest superpower is being able to bring joy into people’s lives.

11. Are you good at saying no, generally?
I’ve gotten better at it. Before, I would just say yes to everything, but being a mom now, I’ve learned about setting boundaries and prioritising my time.

12. What have you learned from being globally famous for well over 20 years?
Resilience – this journey has taught me to be strong.

13. In what way did your 2023 memoir, Paris: The Memoir, change perceptions about you?
I think my documentary was the first time people saw beyond the character and really got to know the real Paris. Then my memoir took it further: I got to tell my own story in greater depth, all on my own terms. And now that A24 has the rights to it, it’s going to be turned into a TV series produced by the Fanning sisters.

14. What are you most proud of?
My story and the impact it’s had. Helping to pass federal bills that will protect children, that feels like turning my pain into a huge purpose.

15. At this point in your career, do you care what people think about you?
I’ve learned not to let other people’s perceptions define me. You know, for so many years people made assumptions about who I was without really knowing me. Now, what matters most to me is making the world a better place by protecting kids, so that’s what I focus on.

16. How would you describe your personal style?
I’ve always loved fashion, but I don’t follow trends – I make up my own. It’s so fun seeing my Y2K style inspire people around the world. Back then, no one was dressing like me!

17. If an alien landed on Earth, how long would you need to teach them the fundamentals of personal branding?
Being the queen of personal branding, I could teach them the basics pretty quickly. The first lesson would be to figure out what makes them unique, because the most memorable brands are the ones that feel authentic.

18. What occupation do you have listed on your passport?
I think it says business owner, but I should really change it to: infinite icon.

19. What is the key to career longevity?
Being kind, which is the most iconic thing you can be. I’ve travelled the world for two decades, sometimes 250 days out of the year, and I’ve always really connected with people. Every time I have a book signing or a perfume signing, I’ll stay until the mall closes if there’s still people waiting to meet me.

20. And finally, what will you be doing after this interview?
I’ll be hanging out with my cutesy crew, London and Phoenix. Then, when they have their nap, my dancers will come over for a rehearsal with my show director, Mikey. I can’t wait to see everyone at Brighton Pride, so I have to get my show ready.
